REDBONES
OK topic is redbones. some rules for the thread are...
no going completely OT until we have established what we need to establish re: plans to meet and arange Ben's beater.
participants will be limited to approximately 10, they don't usually take reservations and won't even put our name on the list until we are all there. I am not coordinating a big ass group it's way too much of a PITA.
don't suggest other locations more convenient to you I don't care.
Don't think it's easy to mosey through the city after work just to end up stuck in traffic. If you don't know how to get to Davis Sq. Someville after work and park in a timely manner already be careful about signing up, it may be more than you bargained for.

it's BBQ
FOOD is MEAT with some occasional non-meat things squeesed in. Catfish and Buffalo Shrimp are also quite good.
DRINK is BEER, ok they have leomade and iced tea too but the beer selection although not the biggest iv'e seen is quite good, and if you can't decide you can spin the wheel of beer and take your chances.
I propose a weeknight, and I can't get there before 6:30 (maybe 6 if i leave a little early) tentatively looking at oct 7th, 9th, 14th
they were a cash only establishment for a long time, have recently accepted CC's but make it easy on the waitress and the rest of us and bring cash including bills smaller than a 20. I usually split the total equally among the participants, and if we all order basic food and a beer or two would like to consider this approach. However I am open to the individually calculated cash contributions if the majority wants to go that route but as a collective we will tip 15-25%, don't forget the tax and calculate it yourself.

there are only alot of rules because I've been around long enough to know how you guys operate. the dinner is actually just an excuse as a result of Ben's other thread.
I'm tentatively looking at the week of Oct 6th.
oh and I'm a guest and hold no actual power beyond abandoning the thread and conducting it like a SMC meet.
Parking in davis isn't actally impossible, heck it's not nearly as bad as parking in harvard square, i just didn't want you subburbanites thinking it was like swinging over to the grocery store otr your local Applebee's. it is the city after all.
trafic coming south on 93 isnt too bad but you have to know how to hop off in medford and cut across harvard ave, still often takes a solid 15 minutes after you leave the highway. if your thinking about Rte 2 it's ok from 95 till you get close to Ailwife, but 16 north to mass ave can be slow and it's easy to miss the cutover to davis if you havent done it you'll end up in porter and traffic gets worse. there is a back way through north cambridge. And don't kid yourself about 95 both ways between 90 and 93. I wouldn't expect you can easily get there from south of the city although I have no personal experience doing it at that time of day.

Others might want to give it a try too. See how easy Corey made it look?
