Default Remote starters

When I bought my Dakota, it came with a remote starter. At some point, the remote fob quit working but I'm told the starter unit itself is fine. I've ordered and now received a new remote fob, which has to be programmed. The instructions say to "unplug the harness from the remote starter module OR disconnect the power source for a period of at least one minute"

It's too damn cold for me to start climbing all over and under the truck to find the starter module. Does anyone know if disconnecting the truck's battery would qualify as the "power source" or do they mean where the power connects to the module.

And my luck, the replacement fob arrived today. Sure wish I had it this morning when it was 4.

Thanks.

Can't help you, Bruce. I have two! Both work fine!

Thanks, Lainey. If it doesn't get any warmer by tomorrow, feel free to send one over around 9:30AM. I'll leave the keys over the visor.

Have them leave a large, regular coffee in the cup holder while you're at it.

just make sure you have the code for your radio before you disconnect the battery.

Thankfully, the truck's radio is w/o code.

When I took the S out after storing it the first winter, it was quite the mind to remember where I had put that card with the code on it.

I think in order for this reset to work properly Mickey needs to be sent down to supervise! If all else fails - you can hook up a wheel and make him run to power the starter!
