Simple Stereo
Ok, so I tried posting in the electronics forum, but didn't get the answers I was expecting. So I turn to my locals. Here is my plan I want a better sound system, but I don't need the best, just a fun system. I usually listen to rock and jazz.
I will be installing an alpine 7894 headunit, DCI modulator, Focal 165V2 components. I'm contemplating on what to do next. I already own an alpine MRV-F540 amp. It's a four channel amp (but it's on the large size) so I will have plenty of power for the components and a sub. Now do I:
A- buy a sub to go with the amp. Then which sub? I was looking at the JL stealth or McLaurant 10". If I do so where do I put the amp? I want to keep my spare.
B- I buy a new amp to power just the components (hidden in the compartment to the left of the spare) and be happy. Then which amp to buy?
Would I be upset without the sound without having a sub? I want to keep as much room as possible in the car.
What have some of you guys done? Thanks for the help. -Josh

I would think you need a sub - why not use what you have and get a spare tire rack for your alpine amp (you'll lose your spare) -
i don't see why you can use two channels on your amp to feed the frt speakers and bride two channels to feed your sub
here's a pic of my old sub
my new one looks the same right now but scott has something differnt planned
