Default Snow Plows suck

Everyone,

During the last snow fall one of the snow plows plowed snow into my S. This caused damage to the left rear quarter panel between fuel door and rear tail light. The light assembly is not damaged.

I have several questions.

1. What is a ball park figure to get the rear quarter panel fixed. The dent is about 8 inches across and 4 inches deep. I have a 1000 deductable and am debating what to do.

2. Can you guys recommend a good body shop to me.

Thanks in advance.

James

probably more than your thousand dollar deductible. depends on how far they blend the paint, the panel is welded below the door so no new panel they will have to work the dented one back into shape, i had damage in the same spot plus new rear bumper and it came in more than 3000. Dick's Autobody in somerville does nice work and should be able to give you a pretty good estimate, in relatively short time but don't expect to get it actually done for quite some time as they are always backlogged. I waited several months.

Seems like there should be a way to get the city to pay for this.

Everyone,

Thanks for your replies.

Scott the paint is damaged but I will try the dingman.

The city wont pay for it because they are saying. We don't know anything about that. We did not do it.

This goes against my collision coverage.

I was pissed about it yesterday. However, it is only a car and no one was hurt.

James,

You probably have the right attitude, but I think *your* insurance company should go after the city for damages (and they probably will). I don't know if there's any way to *prove* a plow did the damage, but take lots of pictures. The city is insured itself for this kind of stuff, I'm sure!

Good luck.
