Some of you already saw my kitchen in the works. A few folks have asked me to post pictures of it.
Here's a couple of shots of it down to the studs... Everything, including windows and doors, was replaced. We saved a large section of the original hardwood floor (which is covered below), and weaved in new wood where the cabinets/appliances, etc are. Previously that was linoleum.
Here are a couple of shots with the windows in and door cutouts and plaster completed. Also, the kitchen is mostly hardwood, except for our entrance area which is a rustic porcelain tile. You can see the original hardwood uncovered in the picture below.
We converted two rooms into the single kitchen. While the kitchen is long (about 48'), it doesn't feel stark; actually, it's very warm and inviting. These are a bunch of shots of the finished kitchen minus the backsplash which was recently completed. The cooktop, by the way, has a downdraft "hood" that pops up at the press of a button (how cool is that! ). All the drawers in our StarMark cabinets have oil dampers which allow you to close the drawer within about an inch, and then they close themselves. (how cooler is that!!! ). The cabinetry is maple wood, by the way, with a honey "chocolate" glaze. I think it's magnificent.
Thanks!!! Oh, god, I wish!!!! I can barely hammer in a nail . We hired a terrific general contractor from Boylston who has a great team working with him. I picked the materials and wrote the (gulp) checks.
