Default Sore Throat

So I have a sinus infection and a lovely sore throat to accompany it, thanks to my post nasal drip. I've got years of experience with this, and I've done cough drops, lozenges, NyQuil, all kinds of crap like that.

But I've found that there's nothing that helps a sore throat better than a shot of booze. 3 seconds of burning kills the germs, dissolves the mucous, warms the throat, and makes you feel just a little bit better all around.

I can't be the only one that uses this remedy... what does everyone else do for a sore throat?

I like Claritin D, specifically the 24 hour stuff you need to present 3 forms of ID for and leave both your fingerprints and a DNA sample before they let you buy it. I ended up buying some last spring when I moved into my house. I was all stuffed up and thought I might have developed those spring allergies everyone talks about. Taking Clariton D cleared me right up. Turns out I didn't have any allergies, just a cold... but it did a great job with congestion in general.

frozen popsicles.
downside is calories and portability.

that or just suck on ice cube but don't chew because it will damage your teeth.

I keep some of that awful tasting Choloseptic spray on hand to numb the throat.

That and cough drops to soothe it. Sucrets? That numbs it a bit too.

Being a light weight in the drinking department, if I tried your remedy, I'd

Maybe once the chloraseptic spray is done, rinse out the spray bottle and refill it with some light rum or something. Then spray your throat with that! I bet a decent rum is cheaper per unit volume. And 80 proof booze is definitely antiseptic.

Mmm..that Captain Morgan's or the one with a bit of coconut flavor might be just what the doctor ordered!

Malibu FTW!

When I was a kid, my mother wouldn't give us anything when we were sick unless
we were dying. Her theory being when you REALLY needed it, it wouldn't do anything.

So, her solution was to give us blackberry flavored brandy.

No cold medications but booze, go figure.
