Default Spam Emails

The person who started Spam should have the worst possible painful death. I host some websites and my email address has been on the web for a while....long before we started cryptically encoding it so the web bots can't catalog it.

I have been getting spam emails by the hundreds and my email client through my web host (I host my own domain) has a crappy system. I tried using Thunderbird to identify and delete spam but I still get huge amounts.

Enter Google Mail....I have all of my email (3 accounts) filtering through Gmail and I now get maybe one or two a day.

I'm a happy camper. I highly recommend it if you too, have similar issues. The interface if very user friendly. I've been keeping an eye on the spam folder to see if anything gets through and so far nothing I couldn't lose.

Let me know if anyone wants an invite for an account.

I have 98% of my emails filtered through my local ISP - who rocks! I get almost no spam any more I think they setup something called Red Condor (?) about a year ago.

They send me a daily message to review the items they have blocked rated on two levels...
- these messages might be good
- we are sure these messages are spam
Never had them be wrong so far

Most of the big name online email accounts have similar good spam filter (finally)... I have a friend who uses Yahoo and they offer similar spam folder setup.

I agree, kill the spammers! Freakin' people with nothing better to do with their time than make everyone else miserable

We need Lainey to post a good hanging smiley here

Thunderbird works pretty well as filtering out my "junk". Just where are you surfing, Wendy?

Off with the heads of spammers!

OOH! Nice smiley Lainey is the queen

I've been on the net since '92... and had the same email address for over 10 years. I also manage more than 100 web sites... no matter what you do, people GET your email address

You come up with one way to block them and then they figure out new ways to annoy you Freaking spammers

I'm not surfing anywhere to cause it. My email address has been on my web site for 10 years so long enough for all the evil web crawlers to snag it.

And...I'm not changing it....although the thought had occurred until I changed to this method.

Anytime you put your email anywhere on the web, i.e., in a post or whatever, be prepared to have your spam emails increase.

I have been using Gmail for a while now. I couldn't see going back.

I also filter my phone calls through google with their grand central phone service. Pretty cool stuff!!

Never heard about the phone service part, they are coming up with some cool stuff these days

No one can get your email address from you surfing somewhere... they can pickup your IP and know a few things about you but the only way for them to get your email is to troll sites for it and/or you fill out a form. Anytime I can fill out a form and give a bogus email account I do But if you are in a techie/internet field and have been for awhile your email is out there
