My friendly advice for the Mr. Nice Guy.

Set your date and plan the drive. If two cars show, you're ahead.

I organized the "Solidarity Drive for Levi" a few years ago. Two hours north of Albany, so not like there were any cars nearby.

I picked a date months in advance after confirming that Levi was available. It was going to be a 2 car event, until at the very last minute Aashish said he was coming (arrived an hour late!) We had to dodge the thunderstorms, so we scrapped the planned route. We had a blast with just the 3 cars. Word got out that I have some good roads, so the drive has grown. The 2013 date is already set - July 20. If only Levi shows, we'll drive the countryside ourselves.

Maybe do a poll with 2 or 3 dates if you want. But then pick your date so people can plan - and then just do it!

I agree with this, I think we have had way to many events get cancelled because of lack of attendees. I for one am going to try my best to plan at least one drive or event a month as soon as the weather warms up a bit!

Good advice here. I've planned many a meet back in the day. Not so much free time these days.

Pick a date, make a plan and carry it out. If you get one other car, you have a meet. You don't have to own a home or a large home to plan a meet. Meet up at a restaurant for dinner to socialize, meet up at a car meet, all car meets do not include drives. That's how you get to know people.

Don't ask for the opinions of others, just make the plan. Otherwise you'll get too many opinions and get nowhere.

Membership is spread out so large turnouts aren't as frequent as in the old days.

Don't be afraid to hang out with folks. You have a common interest in the car, and some of these folks are pretty good behind the wheel.
