Default Three dog night!

Gonna be a whoping 6* tonight. I am thnking of having the dog lie on the bed for added warmth. Do you guys lower the temp in the house at night or leave it a the day temp? I have mine set to 70 durring the day and it auto switches to 65 after midnight. Then, it goes back to 70 at around 6am. During the week, when no one is home, it goes back to 65 around 9am until 5pm when everyone gets back from work and grandmas. It has worked very well this winter and I only used about a tank and a 1/4 of oil!!!

Anyone else use the auto temp setters?

Oh I re read it, thats when no one is home. Maybe I will change it to at least 60. I wonder if you use up more oil getting the temp back up from going too low to where it outweighs the benefit???

The upstairs (bedrooms) is set to 65 most times. My wife keeps sneaking it to 67 or so.

The downstairs I set to 65 in the day, 60 at night. I have a wood stove in the family room which does a nice job heating the place into the 70s.

Yeah those wood stoves seem like the way to go. Do you guys do the logs or pellets?

I burn logs. Pellet stoves can get expensive, plus they run on electricity.

I also have a ton of oak trees surrounding my house so I plan to cut a couple down each year to keep me supplied.

Can you get a full season out a a typical tree? I have almost 2 acres of trees and I am sure I can find a few to harvest if I get a stove next year.
