Ticket today WTF!
Well today coming back from my post-op, I was traveling back on the Mass pike to CT and I was pulled over. There seemed to be cops every few miles so I was deliberately taking it easy. This is the kicker. I was driving in the middle lane with traffic going 70 mph in a 65. Approx 4 cars back a cop makes his way up to me and pulls me over. I did admit I was doing 70 (because I'm honest) and he comes back saying he clocked me at 83 mph, then slowed to 70 mph and gives me a ticket while passing. WTF! People were driving faster in the left lane. Now the issue is if I'm going to fight it or not? If I admit guilt it's $180 and done. If not I pay $25 to appeal then have to kill a day driving back (tank of gas $40ish) then probably only get it reduced. What are your thoughts opinions? Oh, and he also wrote down my wrong address.
lI also looked up and found this aw (MGL 90C-§2) - in which I did not sign anything as it appears I was supposed to.
I figure tomorrow I'll speak with my father (CT lawyer) and see what he says. I haven't been pulled over in 5+ years and never in Mass.
On a side note hello everyone as I know I haven't been around much. Had another two surgeries since I last posted I think.

Sorry you got stopped. That's one the MA State Trooper's favorite tactics......pick an out-of-state car out of a line of MA cars going a tad above the speed limit, lie about how fast they were going and give him the ticket. They figure it won't pay you to fight it.
OP: Sorry to hear about them pulling you over.
Yup these Mass staties are something. I'm fighting a ticket on the 10th in court, for unsafe lane change. Pretty ridiculous, my first ticket ever. I really don't want to mess up my record, I'd say appeal it, you'll save money in the long run. Good luck with what ever you decide.
Damn dude im sorry to hear that.. to be Honest with you id fight it you may loose a day of work and gas money but if you win the points wont go on your license and your insurance wont go up for 6 years or however many years it goes up lol.... so i think its worth it...
Thanks Lainey. Kids are doing well. Ya I had a surgery over Thanksgiving and then this one. This is thought to be my last one, as there is nothing more that can be done. Pain is better, but that is still something I'll live with forever. This surgery was solely on the ankle as they had to repair a couple tears, grind down a couple bones etc. the final hope is that I have more stability, which will produce less pain.
Krista flipped out on my last MRI when I didn't know I had a fracture and two tears and had been walking on it for an unknown amount of time. Ohh well, now I have to deal with this ticket bs.

Hope the surgery produces the expected results. Raw deal on that whole issue. I admire your attitude. I don't know, make that I KNOW I would not have handled the situation as well as you have. Good luck. Rick and I hope to see you around!
CT troopers do the same to MA drivers - I've gotten a ticket for 76 in 65. Back in those days if you paid it off it did not show on your record so I did.
Two ways to look at this:
1- Looks like you have a lot going on, pay it off and save time and hassle.
2- Fight it, will cost you some time and a bit of gas money. Chances are you will win, just mention your good driving record (order a copy NOW) and promise to pay more attention in the future - don't make excuses, keep it simple.
I've had good luck fighting so far, twice I had to do nothing because the officer make some mistake on the ticket, once it was converted to a warning based on my good record.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery!

You should fight it if you were driving a safe and reasonable speed based on the conditions. This will end up costing you about 2 K over the next 5-6 years. It is all about safety, right:-O PM me and I can give you some tips to fight it.
