Default Trans & Diff Change in Boston

Does anyone have a recommendation as to where I should get my transmission and differential fluids changed around Boston (I know I can bring it to the dealer)? If any of you home mechanics would like to make a little $$$, I could definitely bring it by your house and do it there.

Be careful, be very careful. Sometimes they said they changed the fuild but in fact they did not. I found out the hard way. All my maintenance used to be done by the dealer, until Ben showed me how to do that myself.

Just a little background, I had the dealer changed the oil like less than 4000 miles before I did my first oil change, and I did not autocross or track my car. When I drained the oil, boy was I surprised, the old was literally black and it is one qt short.

My only conclusion is the dealer did not change my motoroil and I got screwed.

Ouch. I feel confident that if I brought it to my dealer (Herb Chambers), that they would change the fluids (per what I paid for), and they did pretty good work on other issues I've had since I owned this car.

I'd rather do it a smaller repair place or a fellow enthusiast's place because I'd like to see it done, and I don't want to drop the car off. There's a place in Waltham that use to work on my Alfa (Accel Automotive) that I would bring it to in a second, but I'd have to leave it there, and I need my car for work.

We car lovers (and those who drive aggressively) do the tranny and rear dif fluids about once a year or every 15K miles. I think the owner's manual suggest 30-40K miles...something like that.

I know someone will confirm this... but I think those numbers need to be doubled... the factory "I think" suggested that the diff fluid to be changed around 100k

changing the diff and tranny is alot like changing the engine oil. you drain and then fill. Its a piece of cake. the only difference is that you need a pump to fill the tranny and diff resavoirs.

p.s.
i was just in whitefield NH for the weekend. i was supposed to fly out sunday at 4:15pm but my flight was cancelled due to weather in NY. I couldn't cope with staying in Manchester so i rented a car and drove to Boston. I flew out of Logan at 7:07am on Monday. Anybody go to the St. Anthony's feast Sunday night. I was driving around Boston and saw the fireworks.

anyways, i had a terrible New England experience. Driving in NH sucks too. The roads are excellent but everybody drives like they are 90 years old.

g-s2k:

Honda recommends changing the diff oil @ 30k under 'normal' driving and 15k for 'severe' conditons. The only case of such early change intervals I've seen. An indication of potential problems??

Transmission recommendations are: 'normal' @ 90k, 'severe' @ 30k.

These numbers are straight from the 2000-2003 S2000 factory manual.
