Special tools are great, but you will be throwing the old one out anyway, so I don't see why not just cut the end of it off and use a regular socket. Save some money.

Guess it depends on the car.....I've seen some installations that only allow a socket....

In my case the tool is cheaper than buying a grinder and a cut off wheel since i dont own one already..

Was it in like an indentation or something with metal surrounding it kind of like a pit? I think I have seen something like that too.
