Thumbs up Why? Why? Why?

I'm not one to vent usually, but there are some weird driving habits I just don't understand. Maybe you folks can enlighten me. (FYI these are in no particular order)

Seat Reclined Far Back : I see this all the time. The seat is so far back that the driver has to sit up without their back on seat back at all! Why? To make things worse every time they get into another car as a passenger they do the same with the passenger seat.

Leaning Towards the Middle : The driver leans towards the middle of the car usually with one hand on the top of the steering wheel. Why? I've tried both of the above for a laugh and nearly took out the corner of another car!

Mid Lane Cruising : The driver keeps the car in the middle lane all the time speeding up and slowing down related to the speed of the vehicle in front of them. This speed can vary from 55 mph to 85 mph and happens when there is no traffic in the outer lanes. Why?

Driving at Nutty speed Without a Radar detector : Self explanatory. Why?

Not wearing a seatbelt : My step son Larry has now been in so many accidents that with a reclined seat and no seat belt has damaged his spine from bending double. Why?

I'm sure there are many more ...

It seems looking cool is more important that driving safely. When I'd drive with my 19 year old friend from western MA, he'd never wear his seatbelt. I once asked him why. His response was, "No one I know wears their seatbelt, you look like a dork". Well... I guess I'm just a dork, even before wearing them became mandatory in MA, I swore by them. Even though I had airbags, I'd rather have the seatbelt do its work than have the airbag colliding with my face at 200mph.

The seat belt thing......Those that don't wear them should talk to a state trooper or an EMT. Ask what a person looks like when they scrape them off the road because they were thrown from a vehicle.

Once you get used to wearing a seat belt, it's as automatic as putting in the clutch and turning the key. I find myself putting it on, even if I'm just moving the car across a parking lot.

We wore them long before they became mandatory. Most young kids wear them without argument now as they have been buckled in since they were tiny.

A few others still need a reallity check to wear them.

I can only surmise that driving while leaned over looking like you're trying to find a lost quarter in the passenger seat cushion is cooler than siting upright in proper range to the vehicle's controls.

One word: ghetto-fab.

They do whose things for the same reason they hold guns sideway... and wear t-shirts down to their knees and their jeans half way down their ass.

On a side note, look-alike bulletproof vest is a new fashion line among them - I am not kidding.

Handsfree Law took Affect In CT As Of Oct 1! Motorists will be required by state law to use a "hands-free accessory" with the cell phone.

I wonder whats next though. I kind of think this is infringing on our freedoms don't you guys think. Next will be no rap music blasting so everyone at the light has to listen to it.

I hope they don't because it causes the gun to jam. At least on the semi-auto pistols.

Giles,

We call it "gangster lean". It serves no particular purpose. It just show people with very weak minds that they have to act out like that to make themselves feel better?

Oh about the seatbelt thing, people choose comfort and convenience over safety. Personal choice....I have no comment.
