Only in computers is this crap tolerated. Can you see a car dealer that gives you a repair manual with your new car that tells you how to fix all the features that won't work? Oh, wait. That's Chrysler.
looks like windows 7 finally has a backup recovery kernel built in.
Unix had that what 20 years ago?

The boot from deep sleep time is incredibly fast.
touch the mouse and the computer gives an audio tone inside of a second and the machine is fully functional inside of 3 seconds.
XP took longer just to turn on the monitor.

The Beta expires on August 1, 2009. To continue using your PC, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before the expiration date.
They save the old windows install but make no promises on how well it will uninstall or if it will at all.
they make no warranty to merchantability or if it will blow up.
it's beta and your helping them test.
for this you get their gratitude and to play with it for a few months earlier.
all said it seems to be very stable.
have had a few minor bugs.
when I installed messenger it kept trying to talk to the floppy drive for a while, go figure???
but that stopped after an incidental reboot.
I tried to copy in my personality from firefox on my XP disk but haven't gotten it to pickup correctly yet.
I had to manually download and install the vista printer driver from HP. big whoop.
It does see my wife's nikon D70 with native drivers and without any nikon programs.
Now I don't have to go boot her computer, upload and network it to my machine to post something.

be proactive and suck down an new ISO at work and check the hash codes there.
that is assuming you have a high speed link at work.
besides then your doing research for the company.
