We'd look pretty silly on a rider mower in our neighborhood, but a few folks do have them.
my neighbor to the north of me has the same size lot I do, he has a riding mower, and it is indeed funny to watch him. He spends more time backing up and going forward than he does cutting grass. I can basically cut my front lawn in half the time it takes him to do his, and they are the same size...

But you see that's just it, the Toro has no settings, there is no shifting. The toip of the handle slides forward engaging the variable drive, no specific gears to deal with. As you walk faster you naturally push the handle farther forward and the mower goes faster, as you slow down you naturally pull back on the handle and it slows down. The mower always matches you pace prefectly. It is like using a non-self propelled mower that just happens to weight 0.0 pounds.

For my money, it was a superior choice over a Honda.
you sir are wrong!!

Honda for the WIN

toro = crapola

the Toro is not crapola.... WTF are you talking about...

Had we had to buy a new mower, it would have been on the top of the list of contenders....It has served us well enough that we would buy another....unless I went "green" and got the Neuton Electric.

The ONLY time I have had a problem with mine was when I first bought the house, and I discovered a metal fence post in the middle of the front yard.

I have been cutting grass with a push mover all my life, I have hit some big things before, but nothing in my past prepared me for that noise, that jolt, and the engine coming to a complete stop instantly.

A metal fence post I happen to believe was planted by the evil people I bought the house from, we had issues over what they were not removing from the house, and escrow I forced them into putting up because I suspected they were going to try and leave a ton of crap behoind... and they did. We parted under such bad terms they never updated their mail with the post office so only their attorney knew where they moved. It will be 5-years come July, and I'm still throwing their mail away...

a honda mower would have multched that fence post for you and it would have self sharpened it's blade too

Honda FTW

I'm with you Steve

I had a Honda mower. Got no use for a mower now though unless landlady wants to take mowing services off my rent. There are VERY few benefits to renting... I try to enjoy all of them

I actually kinda miss mowing the lawn though; not only did it force you to slow down and do just one thing at a time, it was great exercise having only the small push mower for doing several acres...

The riding lawn mower sat broken for about 5 years on the "someday this will get fixed" list
