waiting for you to chime in...

doesn't it bother you to kill a poor defenseless animal?

ok another question - did you ever have any family pets? not working hunting dogs but regular old pets

To some, hunting is a sport. If they eat what they kill that's one thing, I have a problem with killing things for the sake of killing things. Erick is correct that there is a need for some control of certain types of animal population, or that's what the hunters want us to believe anyway.

To be honest, it's still something I'm not crazy about, and I'm glad Rick feels the same way on this one.

I don't consider it a poor defense-less animal. And yes I had many pets growing up. Dogs, Cats, Birds as pets then Pigs, Chickens, Goats, Rabbits for harvesting. My parents are old school from the old country. Haven't you seen old school pordagee familys having a few animals running around in their yards?

Actually all my hunting friends had and have pets and are probably the biggest animal lovers you would know.

I actually do it more for getting out in the woods than food in the freezer. Maybe that's why my kill rate is the lowest of my buddies. I don't just walk around in the woods and shoot anything that moves.

I have a big hunt coming up in September. It'll be a Caribou hunt in Northern Quebec. The big draw for me is just to be out there. Harvesting 2 caribou and some fishing will just be bonus.

Damn now I am getting hungry for some venison.
