Default are you prepared for a disaster?

So with the recent disasters we’ve seen raises the question – are you prepared?

I am thinking that I could do ok in the event of a disaster. Ie got enough wood for heat / fire – got enough food in cans to last a while – got a generator in case of a power outage and always have at least five gallons of gas on hand - got a lake across the street for water (albeit I think I would need to boil it) I think I might need to add a firearm and a tent but all in all I think I’d do ok

Do you plan for such things and if sowhat do you have on hand

Steve, I think about this all the time. Other than a lot of food in the cupboard, I am not prepared at all. In my mind, the first thing I need is a generator and a large fuel tank. There is no way I could heat my house with a wood stove. I'd need three or four of them. The second thing is a source of clean water, but rivers and ponds are close enough to drive to.

I would like to become more prepared. I am looking to get an AR15 and a ton of ammo first.

i would say you wouldn't need to heat your whole house Bill but i bet a wood stove insert in your TV room would do a great job keeping that side of your house pretty warm

Me too.

We have some canned food, that's about it.

Oh and we have some candles and a couple old kerosene lamps. I mentioned these once, a long time ago, either in a thread or in the presence of our Legal Bill. I think he either called me a pioneer woman or asked if we were from "Little House on the Prairie."

Laugh all you want Bill, but when your flashlight batteries die out, I'll still have light.
