Default is your porter cable loud?

i just got my pc 7424 in the mail and i turned it on and it's loud, is that normal?
also does your pc vibrate alot at high speeds?
and if i'm using 6.5" pads can i use the 5" counter wieght or do i need another one?
is there any special techniques that you guys have developed with the pc that made the detailing easier/faster?

thanks for your help everyone

i've been doing some reading on the pc and they say to use speed 5 or 6 to remove swirl marks, etc. , is that not true?

i hardly ever go over 4 for swirl removal and i use some aggressive compounds - the key is to keep it moving with slight pressure and good pads then work the compound into the paint

i know i have a great link at home on how to use the thing and nope it's not MikeyC's handbook

thanx zippy for the reply and the link. the link states the same technique that i have read on several sites, so that's good. i guess i'll start with my dads car, then to my moms car, then to my brothers car, and if all of the above are successful i'll move to the s2000.
