I still recommend that you try HW 152 from the I-25 Hillsboro turnoff (south of Truth or Consequences), through Kingston, the Gila Forest, Emory Pass, and then ending up in Silver City. I just drove this route a couple of weeks ago and I forgot what a blast this drive was! It starts out kind of boring for about 10 miles, but once you pass Kingston -Hang on, because the next 30 miles will have an abundance of intense twisties. I pushed my S moderately though the turns (20 - 30, or so above the recommended speed limit). BTW, Silver City is a fun and interesting little town. Anyway, that's my suggestion. Happy Motoring.

BTW, this route would be a fun overnighter for us Albuquerque folks. We could stop by the Owl Cafe on the way down - spend the night in Silver City and come back through Reserve - hooking up at Socorro and then taking I-25 back to ABQ. Lot's of sights to see: the Gila Cliff Dwellings, the Cat Walk, etc. Anyone interested?
