Default j's engine torque damper

came in the mail this past saturday and considering how today is such a nice and semi warm day i decided to give it a try and install it myself...

i didn't do much research about this product and as a result i was missing that hole that the oem heatshield doesnt have..

then i decided to search some more about this product and came to realize that the etd (according to a good amount of members on this board) isnt worth the money and the headache

hey chad you wanna help me install this? i think i'm going to have to cut a hole for the heatshield rather than get the j's (considering how most people say that the fitment sucks)

Is it really worth the hassle performance wise or is it just for the bling effect?

I dont have one on my S but when I had it on my EVO I noticed the shifts were alot cleaner. I would think its more of a bling item. I think VVS is selling one for like $100 or something

on an n/a car, yes it may be a waste, but on a fi car where the engine is under alot of stress, it will indeed move, the engine damper will help save the motor mounts and in a fi car it can prevent the turbo, mani, wastegate, etc etc from hitting the frame

I usually advise against this mod in NYC.

This mod DOES indeed work, but most people dont know what "work" means.

The engine damper stops the motor from moving about.

However, when the car is at low speeds or stopped...instead of the motor vibrating and shaking, since it is now attached to the chassis, it will shake the whole car. At speed however, it DOES get smoother.

The hole is a pretty easy cut if you have a dremel. If you sit in traffic a lot, I would advise against this mod.
