My wife has a 2009 ford escape hybrid awd. It's a hoss in the snow (seriously it's amazing in the snow!), handles incredibly smooth, gets 28+mpg around town, plenty of room to haul stuff and tows a our 17' boat just fine. It's very comfortable as well. I really like it.

Having just purchased a 2013 CR-V, I can say I have had no buyer's remorse. My daughter has a 2012 EX model which I liked although I thought it was a little tight for me in the drivers compartment. The EX-L model we got solved that with the electric seat, as I probably didn't adjust the seat hight with my daughters car. We did a weekend trip to Columbus Ohio and back and it was a very comfortable drive which was saying something because it was construction from the NYS border to Columbus. Traveling a little over the speed limit we got a little under 30 MPG on the trip. Our normal suburban driving around town is showing 23 to 25 MPG. Going from a 2003 EX-L V6 Accord to this SUV, the fit is good, but the material (leather, appointments etc) seem to be a little less rich. As of yet I haven't discovered a rattle or anything needing attention. After living through the 70's and 80's it just amazes me how the assembly processes are now. Back then something always fell of over the first couple of thousand miles or you were left called the auto dealer's wrecker to get your new car back to the shop for a two day wait for some part.

I do miss the V6 power of the Accord, but then again I daily drive a Fit so who am I to complain about the CR-V. Ecoboost is fine for open road cruzing and mileage, but not good for around town. The D3 mode on the tranny is your friend. It does a suprising job of giving the motor some growl when going through the gears and really transforms the power band. Remember though, I drive a Fit.

The CR-V corners and tracks nice but it isn't a sports car. It looks bigger than it feels and feels smaller than it looks.

The EX-L models 300+ amp stereo is great. Bluetooth and the other electronics are pretty new to me but probably average for new cars these days.

I didn't check out a number of other choices of brands. I went the easy route (for me) and stopped by my Honda dealer and got this car. Happy and pleasently suprised so far.

How about a Chevy Equinox. Gets 22 city and 32 hwy. ranges from 24k to 32k. Lots of room and rides nice.

 

Hey, Nice truck Brian. I would like to get a used one in the future for the occasional hauling job and to settle road rage issues. The Fit just doesn't get the rage part done!
