Question about wheels
Does anyone have any idea who may be able to widen our factory wheels??
I have heard of this being done, but the only thing I can think of is to contact people who repair and restore alloy wheels. I want to be able to put wider tires on my factory wheels eventually as I will most certainly encounter traction problems with the stock tires and I do not want to get bigger wheels....as Doug knows, my plan is to eventually just powdercoat my stock wheels.
Thanks in advance if any of you have any leads or ideas

I think it would be far easier and likley cheaper to just get wider wheels in the first place. Whether any of the choices trips yer fancy is a different question. Have you checked TireRack, etc. for availability and cost?
James, all I can say is the thought makes me do this
Buy new wheels or look for someone selling used. I know several people who have bought used wheels, both OEM and aftermarket right here on the forum.

I posted a thread on this in the wheel and tire forum.......check it out if you want........but to widen 2 of my wheels would be about 490 with shipping. I would just widen the front ones and put the rears on the front to save money.
I think my biggest delema is knowing if the offsets can be corrected easily.
Cheaper than new wheels and will retain the nice stock look with a lot more traction for the blower........any other thoughts are appreciated.

Be careful with the rears on the front - the centering hole in the hub is different (bigger). That could have some ramifications under stress over time. Most aftermarket wheels will ship with a spacer to provide proper centering. I used cheapo wheels on my '94 Prelude VTEC without a centering ring and it worked ok for autocrossing but you needed to be careful to center the wheel well as you tightened the nuts.
Overall, I'd strongly recommend that you do it right the first time - this ain't a place to cheap out...

That's *my* opinion. Other folks may have ways to make it work. I wonder if someone makes cenering rings for the stock S wheels? Of course, there's the offset issue since the backs have a different offset than the fronts...
