No more C6? And another 996 now?

So it appears that my tires are expiring this year and I wanna get some adequate replacements. I don't wanna go full stupid and buy Michelin ps4s or something just something comparable to the Bridgestone potenza re070 iirc that are on it now. Any suggestions?

if you don’t drive in the winters, Continental makes great tires.

The CTR has Continental Sportcontact 6 tires on it from the factory, and those have been nice for daily driving in a bit of a spirited manner. I can't comment on the treadwear as I've only had the car for a year, but they've been quiet and grippy. Wet conditions don't seem to have much of a dropoff in traction.

On the S2000 I have Dunlop Direzza ZII tires. Great bang for the buck on these, but tire noise is much more noticeable. Mine are approaching their age limit, and they've gotten a bit greasy as they age. Mind you, I think of that as a bit of a bonus now, as the car is more tail happy at lower speeds and still behaves in a predictable manner. These have been replaced by the ZIII, but still seem to be good value. Again, I can't comment on the treadwear, as it seems the tires will likely age out before I could put serious miles on them.

I also know there are many on here who have enjoyed the Hankook RS series of tires, as those have been a performance bargain as well.

I wouldn’t recommend the 200 treadwear tires for a car that is driven on the street and doesn’t see autocross or a race track.

Sumitomo HTR Z III was a great recommendation that I used on my Civic Si until it became a track/daily car.

For Continental, I’d recommend Extreme Contact Sport if not seeing snow or Extreme Contact DWS (s is for snow) if being driven at any point during the winter.

And I’ll add, Mr. Blueosprey went under 2:30 at Watkins Glen on the Continental Extreme Contact Sport tires. So it’s not like they are a grip compromised. Just not as grippy as the Hankook RS4 or the Bridgestone RE71R, Yokohama A052, ZIII or Falken Azenis RT 615K Plus or Azenis RT660.

I very much liked the continental extreme contacts, but technically they are supposed to be a rain tire. They were good on track and on the street for 3 or 4 years - until they weren't! I kind of feel that the tires failed me at Lime Rock last fall and contributed to my slide into the wall. It was cold (about 40 degrees), and the tires were maybe on their final legs in that the shoulder of the front left was a bit chorded, still ... only going about 80 mph coming out of the Downhill.

Nevertheless, I think they were good tires,

In other news, another uneventful weekend. "Got the car up on jack stands" for some new rubber, worked on the MGA engine (report to follow soon); replaced the heater fan resistor on the Escape, attempted to start the Volvo (fail) and ran up to LP today to feed the birds. Snowing here when we left, but cold and sunny up there.

Speaking of jack stands ...
