Windshield
My windshield looks fine until the sun shines down on it, then it looks like it has been sand blasted.
I used some fine steel wool on it (a suggestion given by Oscar) it did help get rid of haze but still finely pitted in sun light (I'm anal )
Was wondering if anyone had any suggestions on remedy, trying to avoid new glass.
It does bug me under direct sun.
Has anyone gotten a new windshield? if so was it OEM ?, did you go to Honda or a specialized glass replacement house, should it be OEM ?

Jeff.Rick had our windshield replaced last year for same reason. He used a local glass guy that he does business with. Not sure if the windshield was OEM.(I'll ask him) There are a few "bubbles" in the rubber seal on the outside that he's not happy about. The guy offered to re-do it. Not sure if Rick will bother in the spring. The glass was really pitted so it did need to be replaced.
My windshield had to be replaced shortly after I bought the car. Ray Sands glass did the work. The replacement glass is made by Pilkington. The glass quality seems to be as good as OEM. I was pretty happy with the install, but the rubber trim on the outside had to be replaced and I have a problem with it not sitting flat in one spot. I believe they used an OEM trim piece and I have seen a TSB from Honda about this problem. (They suggest gluing it down.)
The local guy here for Diamond did a fantastic job on my STI, and the GTI that I had. Full coverage glass????? Just follow a truck for a few minutes (just kidding).
Jeff, I'm the guy when you were pulling into Knapp, you got a little giddy with the clutch and threw gravel at me. Lucky I didn't sustain a windshield hit too. You were a "good egg" and came right up and apologized. No harm, no foul. Who says the S paint is soft? Hope to meet up sometime again.
Say, is it Eastwood that has windshield polish?

I had my window replaced because of the situation that also dented my hood, the flying coin from hell.
Of course you know I could NEVER endorse the a-holes at Austin Spencer who did the worst paint job ever, but they did replace my glass. And, that glass was ordered by me through Ontarion Honda because I wanted a Honda piece of glass.
Good luck Jeff, oh, and if you want to see a wonderful piece of glass take a look at my CRX-SiR the next time you see it, that thing really ought to be done!

I had mine replacd last summer a rock came up and shattered mine was suprising and scary at the same time, First off they put in a PPG glass looked fine problem is they scratched both fenders and did a crappy job on the rubber seal so out came that one fenders got painted courtesy of the glass shop and for a second glass they put in a pilkington messed that up glass did not seat correctly so car went back in again this time they went with a ppg again long story short bad install so out it came again for the fourth try they put in a pilkington and it wasnt perfect but after 4 tries a front end repaint and all the aggravation i said good enough. Funny thing is the bill was around $1200.00 for the glass it was an insurance job. Well in the middle of all this pilkington ppg running around stuff I called the dealer for an oem price and it was around $400 go figure the dealer was cheaper than the glass shop for a genuine honda glass which we all know is manufactured for them from someone not sure who but i think its ppg and at the time there were only 2 instock in new england and they were in a new jersey warehouse. I didnt want to wait for the shipping so i had the glass shop put in the fourth one btw if you want to know who did the shoddy work pm me.
I just ordered a Honda OEM windshield and seal to be installed by Empire (I think it is)...I'll let you guys know how it goes as soon as they get the glass in and get out to replace it.
