Any Metro Dj's here?
forget the vinyl warmth - we've gone a step below that now!
the other day i was at the office setting up my mobile rig. i had to replace a sub driver and fix a couple of various things. i didn't have my laptop with me so i had to use some old promo only cd's we had laying about the warehouse - it's DISGUSTING to me how much better pressed CD's sound compared to serato. ugh! i used to long for the days of vinyl audio - now i'll settle for cd quality lol.

Oh yeah alot of Serato "dj's" get their music from limewire and however they can get their hands on it so quality is crap. A well mastered CD is very close to analog sound. However .. unless you are playing super huge wave files digitially ripped audio just hurts the quality. MP3 sounds like crap to a trained or finicky ear. Even at higher bitrates like 320 .. certain music still lacks richness and depth. The average person couldnt even tell the difference but for a audifile its torture. I actually use WMA when I rip my stuff. I found my ear likes the sound better and let me tell you .. I been playing with my ripping process for YEARS. LOL

It does support WAV though ..Taken from SL1 Manual
Scratch Live supports fixed and variable bit
rate .MP3, Ogg Vorbis, AAC, .AIFF, .WAV and
Whitelabel (wl.mp3) file types. M3U playlists
are also supported. For more on Whitelabel.net
audio files, see “Whitelabel.net” on page 10.

I am not a scratch or turntablist kinda dj. I was more of a mix and blend guy. Real big with house and EDM. But I do have tons of hip hop on vinyl from back in the days.
