Awful Touchscreen on Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0?!?!
 

Is it just me or do touchscreens other than apple products have awful touch screen response? I bought a Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 7.0 for Solostorm and the screen lag annoys the hell out of me. Also, when I try to scroll up & down on a web page, the page zooms in / out. Am I doing something wrong? This is the most frustrating piece of hardware I've used in a while.

its the UI man, if you can get back to basics like rooting that bish to run cynogen. it will respond much better. one of the main issues with the HTC stuff too but luckily its not as bad and they have fixed the Sense Overlay. XDA-developers has your fix.

I have messed with iPads that aren't so responsive. It is usually OS or overloaded. Check for updates or root it.
I did a side by side comparison with my Nexus 7 to an iPad. No difference.

I tried the Nexus 7 and the touchscreen was great. No lag at all. I can't believe the difference between the Samsung & Nexus 7. Is there a way to make the Samsung react like the Nexus? Or is this a hardware limitation? One thing I like about the Samsung is that it has a MicroSD slot. So I will be able to grab the memory card from the GoPro & watch video in between autox runs. The Nexus 7 doesn't have a MicroSD slot. Still debating if I should return & get a Nexus 7.

you are computer savvy, its just the bloated OS on the samsung. you can root it to run much faster with less UI bloatware. i personally would go with the nexus. you can always get a reader plug in for the nexus. it has full USB slots correct?

I second the root recommendation. The reason why Nexus 7 and iPads are so great is that they limit the bloatware. They are much leaner OSs and therefore run smoother. The Samsung tablet can also be low on processing power compared to the Nexus and iPad. Nexus has a great processor and playing Dead Trigger on it is badass.

You can also go into settings and disable as many default features that you can to make sure it is not running heavy.

If you get the Nexus 7 you can buy a 2 dollar cable adapter that connects to the mini usb port and Install Nexus Media Importer. The non card slot on the Nexus 7 is my only complaint but I have managed to work around it using Skydrive, Evernote and Google drive.

You can also find that cable adapter on amazon for dirt cheap. I think I ordered like 5 of them just in case. Took about a week or so and came straight from China. It is a little annoying to have the cable hanging there if you are picky like me but really no issue. The Nexus base is now more available too. I have a Tiger Direct store near me and picked one up for under 40 bucks. You might find it cheaper on Amazon though.


If your into comics .. A good app to use is Comixology and if you can get your hands on some cracked comics I use Perfect Viewer. My nerds back in NY get me all sorts of good up to date reads. I used Comixology to get all caught up on Walking Dead series when they offered a sale on the Omnibus editions that had about 30 issues per Omnibus.

Civil War series is what got me back into comics. I have them on hard copy. If you haven't done so already, Walking Dead is the move. Robert Kirkman is a great writer.

yes I did! hope to get a field test on it this Sunday. if it doesnt rain tomorrow i will take it out and do some testing at my shakedown route.

Those phones save the consumer the headache of having to root the device. I like that LG one. It's pretty much the Nexus 7 with phone if I am not mistaken. I am sad that the Asus phone is gone.

edit .. I stand corrected. T-Mobile still offers that phone with a 59 buck charger. oooooooohhh

Nexus is definitely the way to go along with the Media importer app. This is what I will eventually do for Solostorm. For now it works fine on my 5" HTC DNA smartphone.

Did you get it from staples? They dropped it down to $179 last week. Curious.

i bought it from amazon. damn didnt know about the price drop. i paid 199 for it. but ive always had good experience with amazon so i dont mind it. plus their customer service is great. this is gonna be my dedicated data logging tool lol

**EDIT** just checked staples, its 179 for the 16gb. i just got the 32 gb for 20 bux more. its the same price on amazon.

I also love amazon.com, so I know what you mean. But, since amazon charges taxes, I may pick it up from staples anyway and use the $20 savings for a nice case, etc.

Fyi, you can get a nice case on amazon for less than 10 for Nexus 7. Also don't sleep on tigerdirect and micro center. I used to live in micro center till I moved to FL. Now I have a tiger direct store a block away.

Oh and not sure if you guys care but kindles just dropped in price too. Cant go wrong with a prime account and fire hd on the cheap.

:iagree: ive been a prime member and it is awesome! i just order all my diapers and what not through amazon. never have to leave the house for those items lol. yeah i ordered a case with it, 6 bux! how can you go wrong? i checked tigerdirect since i used to go there during my computer gaming days. my company has an employee program, it didnt do as much for the price on the tablets. even though prime guarantees 2 day, i tracked my order and i think it will be in today since the amazon location had it in PA. autocrossing is very taxing. sometimes when im in car i gotta go. haha its for my 4 m/o daughter cant wait to bring her to autocross or go kart when she gets older. on other news my nexus 7 just arrived. man oh man this thing is sweet. automatically set it up after signing in. it mirrors my phone. gotta love it.

Welcome to the Nexus family. Great little device for the money. My ONE complaint is that I can't watch Amazon prime videos. It's understandable since the Google's focus for it was to boost Play sales.

I am sure there is a way around that but been to lazy to find it.
