several members drive their s2k in the snow with snow tires and some sandbags in their trunk. jon (soul coughing) does this with 475 whp, so it is definitely doable. i personally drive my s2k in the winter, but not in the snow. a beater is ideal, but not a necessity.

My S is a daily driver. Some winter tires will be a good investment. I've never had any problems starting my car during the winter months. Now stopping and turning is a different story.

In the last few years we haven't had much in the way of snow, but we're capable of it. If anyone remembers 95 and 96 (the years) it seemed like we were getting a foot of snow every week .

I'm on my 3rd s2k, the first two were driven in the winter and so will this one. Get some decent snow tires around November and you'll be fine.

I drove in winter on the stock tires and didnt have too much of an issue. Snow tires would probably be a good investment this year though.

If I remember correctly .. we got alot of rain mixed in with it too. We havent had really bad winters for quite some time. Im wondering if we are due this year ..

Anyway.. one problem you may face is where you live. My old house had a steep driveway into my garage and it was a pain to get in and out. Keep A REALLY close eye on weather reports and even if they over estimate thats ok because you rather be prepared than not. Some places arent plowed as quick as others .. that will depend on how well your town is run. Most major highways and streets are always plowed for the most part so no worries. Just dont expect to get around well with some extreme summer tires in the snow.

Good luck man!

Drive a beater in the winter and save money on insurance payments for 5-6 months.

I would not drive it without getting snow tires. I drove last winter with the oem REO50's and it was not fun. I would slide everywhere and could not get up the smallest of hills. I called out lots of days from work as I was unable to get out of my driveway which has a slight incline out.
With some snow tires I'm sure it's fine. Still rwd so gotta be careful but infinitely better than summer tires in the snow hahaha.
Good luck with your move.
