Official 2015/16 NBA thread
You know how I know you're a Knicks fan, Jon?
You don't know shit about managing a basketball team.
The Heat offered him the most they possibly could have without trading away Justise Winslow and JRich, who look like they could be the future of the franchise. $40m is almost as much as he'll make in Chicago after taxes are factored in. This wasn't about money.
Pat Riley is more interested in fielding a contender than mortgaging his team's future. If Bosh is healthy, we'll have a real contender next year in the east, and $20m to attract a big fish free agent in what is shaking out to be the riches and deepest FA class in years. If Bosh retires because of his health..... man, that's nearly $55m in cap space. I trust Pat Riley above all, and I know the organization, the fans, etc will welcome him back with open arms if he decides to come back after his two year deal with Chicago.

I have been working so much that I have been out of the loop only to glance at some headlines and see that the Knicks are the Bulls now lol and the Heat/Wade love affair is officially over.
At the end of the day the Heat is basketball business not a family and as much as many people didn't want to see Wade leave, I think it was for the best.

Bro hes not coming back, maybe a 1 day contract at the end.
Listen Your team is NOT a contender with or without Bosh. A pretender is a better observation,
It was all about money, if hes getting the same money mid level starter money why play for the heat might as well go try something else.
The heat should have given wade enough money to stay, this show future superstars to NEVER take a pay cut to help the heat win because it will never be paid back to the player. Id bet wade regrets the pay cuts and if anyone asks him about the heat hell say dont go!

That's a good point, John. He may or may not be back and is probably copying the LeBron move if he does. It is all about money. Only difference is Wade won't be stupid enough to promise 7 or 8 championships and bail real quick when he sees he won't get them. LOL
You don't get it Jon. For the kind of money Wade wanted, it would have required trading last year's first and second round picks. Our first rounder plays defense good enough to draw comparisons to a younger Kawhi Leonard, and our second rounder had the highest 3-point shooting percentage after the all star break among all players with over 25 attempts. He was shooting 53% from downtown, Jon, over a few months, and he's signed on a rookie contract that pays him dick. We're not trading him or Winslow to keep an aging star who CANNOT play defense and plays EXTREMELY inefficient offense. Keeping him would have hampered the team's success this coming year, and would have made signing a big free agent next year an impossibility.
While I get that you're a Knicks fan, and you're used to the "We're not gonna win shit this year, lets throw $124 mil at Melo and at least we'll have something fun to watch" mentality, but Miami regularly makes the playoffs, regular contends for the conference title, and regularly produces a winning record. At least your Knicks will be fun to watch for like.... 2 years, with a rickety-ass D-Rose, aging, crotchety Melo, and that snowflake Joakim Noah. At least you guys have Tingus Bazingus as your future franchise player. I think your front office f@#ked up and actually drafted a good player. Lets see who he plays for when his rookie contract expires. Probably won't be New York.
I don't think we're winning a championship any time soon, but our team is two large free agent signings away from being a legit contender. If Wade comes back on a one day contract, I'd still be pumped. Dwyane Wade is the Miami Heat, period. He doesn't feel any ill will towards Pat Riley or the Heat organization as a whole, either. I think the only people that lose out here are the casual Miami fans that only know this team with Dwyane Wade. I still remember the Hardaway, Zo, Majerle years man, so I'm not a bandwagon fan by any stretch. I think the team will be fun to watch next year, and if we get a guy like Westbrook the east needs to watch out.

f@#k Lebron. That's all I have to say about that. f@#k Lebron. I'm happy for the city and people of Cleveland, but f@#k Lebron.

But be careful. The last time you went on about a team being a contender was about a year ago about the Dolphins. Oooooohhh snap .. time to run!!! LOL
Last year broke me as a Dolphins fan. It's always "our year!" until the third or fourth game, and then BOOM we suck. That's BS, we can't even suck right. Remember suck for Luck? LOL. I'm just gonna let the season play out and go from there. I'm done believing, lol.
The Heat, because they have a track record of winning, get the benefit of the doubt, though. I'm WAY more confident in that organization than the Dolphins organization, which has done nothing to earn anyone's confidence.
Sorry for the novel, LOL

Well you did have the Shula era so there is some winning history with that franchise. I think you guys should have a better time this year. I just don't see that Suh signing truly paying off. To sign him and let Vernon go... man I would be pissed if I was a fan of the team.
