Default $100k for 25 hours of Flight!

Yup. On the radio I heard of a company that has a fleet of private jets and they are selling 25 hours of flight for $100k. Thats $4k/hr. I am not sure which planes they have, but you get to go just about anywhere, at just about anytime.

Champagne included.

It's a time share in the sky!

I saw that, too. That's a lot of money. I used to work for a company that had a Rockwell Saberliner corporate jet and got to fly on it quite a bit. If you can afford it, it's really the way to go. I was onboard with the the chairman of the board, a really old fart. We're taking off and he hollers at the pilot "Step on it, Ted we're running late." The pilot pulls back on the stick and pins us to our seats. He thumps me on the chest and says "We're not really late, I just love it when he does that."

Unless they're flying fighter jets or the likes of stealth bombers, that's some PRICEY airfare ... haven't they caught on to the lowered fares apparent these days?

I'm sure there is some rich bastard who is so bored that he/she will take this offer. If people are flying into space with Russians, anything is possible these days. (I'd much rather blow my cash on a fleet of NSX's)

They are targeting companies mainly. For $100k you can move your execs around for a not much more than first class. I mean it's only cost effecient if you are moving more than one person.

The jet seats probably atleast 8 people.

Remeber you have fuel costs, pilot costs, maintenance costs, I suspect you get a flight attendant too.

All in all it's a reasonable deal for a medium sized company.

keep in mind, some exec's pay a lot of cash to ride around a track with Michael Schumacher at the wheel of a 550 Marinello at certain events. This might seem like a bargain to some, but it doesn't earn you respect, its nothing more than a rollercoaster ride for them and for the audience - us - looking at them shelling out the cash for such an event.

I saw on CNN that 2 million will buy you a ticket to space. So I'm saving up for that right now

Private jets are practical for only a very few people but they ARE practical for them. Figure you are carting around a guy who is making $2M/year and his staff (PR, secretarial, etc). That's $500/hr for just his salary. Also, some of these people need to make several stops/day. If you tried to book their schedules on commercial flights it would never work. Not only would they be totally shagged by the time they got there but they would need to work on the flight, perhaps practicing speaches and such. For a very select few it can make some amount of sense, not for me, but for some.
