I never expected anyone working in a dealership to buy that brand unless they offered significanr discount to their employees that was too good to pass up or offered a free demo to drive everyday. But even then, it is your decision and your preference, not anyone else's. Enjoy your Subaru, an excellent car!

I don't think your co-workers would be saying anything if you had bought a Porche.

and along those lines, does EVERYONE who works there own a Hyundai? I'm guessing not.

NNY S2K: I'm sure you're right about the Porsche, never thought of it that way.
You're right, few own Hyundai's. Jerry has 2 sons, one that works for his Honda dealership, and drives a Toyota truck, and one that works for his Hyundai dealership, and drives a full-size Dodge Ram. I believe only 2 people who work at the Hyundai dealership have Hyundai's.

I think you need to do a little more research before you say such things, Hyundai's build quality is better than a lot of vehicles produced today, the statistics show it.

Still, build-quality isn't the big deal it used to be, people rarely keep a car past the 5-year loan period, but should you decide to, the warranty is 100K. It's pretty much a win-win scenario, since you get more for your dollar with Hyundai compared to many other makes.

Did you ever see the 70's Hondas? They were huge pieces of crap. I know because my Dad had a 70's something CVVC (predecesor to the Civic) and it was a slow rust bucket. Times change and so do companies.

I wouldn't buy a Hyundai today because they dont make anything that appeals to me, but they are making huge strides from where they were in the 80's.

Let him drive it for a day, that should shut him up. Congratulations on the WRX. Do you have any pics yet?

Yeah, here you go...

The wheels are 5Zigen MK5's, not my first choice, but I got them used, and got a really good deal.

I've already tinted the windows, ordered an STi up-pipe, and plan on a Cobb Stage 2 in the near future. Basically, it'll be an AWD 13.4 daily driver .

Most car companies give good discounts on their own products (below invoice pricing while still qualifying for any incentives that maybe out there) so their employees almost have to buy their brand because it makes sence. For instance we are a Honda family (have owned 11) and my dad was working for Ford for a couple of years. My sister and i both bought explorer's instead of pilots because we got about 8000-9000 off MSRP plus got to do 5 year no interest financing. It was such a great deal that we had to do it.

You did nothing wrong at all. Your purchase means that maybe hyundai needs a different car in it's lineup.

It should only make a difference if you need a car to demo or to promote the dealership. For example, if you had to drive around a lot to drop off or pick up customers or parts, you probably should have bought a Hyundai.

Otherwise, you should be able to buy what you want.
