#$@%& Contractor!
I live in a condo and my bathroom looked real bad. I wanna sell the place so I decided to hire the super in my building to redo my bathroom. He took out the old bathtub and tiles, put up waterproofing and then tiled yesterday. When I got home last night I saw the tile-work he put up. They are already glued to the wall but not grouted. Problem is that they look like shit. Not lined up at all. I mean like 80% of them are not lined up. Since they are already glued to the wall, I assume you can't take them down without damaging either the tiles or the greenboard behind it.
I haven't paid him any labor yet, only reimbursed him for the materials. Problem is that the materials I bought have all been put up so now I have to buy all new materials. Even the bullnose tiles don't match the rest of the tiles. Its just an awful job.
He won't redo them and is demanding I pay him. What can I do?

there was no contract ever in place. is was an under the table kind of thing. i mean he's done a lot of bathroom in my building and they look so much better then what he did for me.
I am a contractor and my guess he is a Handyman and is not licensed, Depending on your local code enforcement he may or may not have to carry a license and insurance to perform any work as well as carry workmans comp! Ask to see his license if things start to get ugly! take a pic and post! If the work is sub-standard don't pay him until he fixes it properly - you paid for a quality tile job and he did not deliver as promised!
If he used standard tile adhesive it usually will cure overnight - Did he use spacers to lign up the tiles?
You mentioned the tub, He might have needed to pull a demo permit as well and did he install the tub as well as the plumbing? Here you would definately need a permit for that!
