~$100 cheapo digi-cam, suggestions?
I see a smorgasbord of cheapo digi cams. some stated 1.3 megapixels but it's interpolated from 640x480VGA, some with 1024x768 native. some with small internal memory but an expansion slot, some with a larger internal memory but no expansion slots. some with flash, some don't. some with LCD, some don't. some big, some small.
what's your suggestion? looking for something that i wouldn't feel bad about breaking or losing, but takes good enough pictures to share on the net (no need for print).

You probably already know this but Megapixels are the key. The more the better.
I bought a Toshiba PDR-M21 online. I went to eopinions.com and searched for the best deal. I think it was $150. Good camera and takes great pics. Not so good in low light but makes up for it in daylight. I bought it because it was the lowes priced 2.1 megapixel I could find. It came with batteries, a 8mb storage card, a carrying case and an extra 64mb card. It was a promotional deal. My computer wouldn't recognize the camera so I had to go out and buy a $20 reader. Saves on batteries while uploading.

Yep, but I'm not looking for wonderful images, just so I can snap and use on websites and to send to friends and co-workers. I have a 4.x MP camera for the detailed stuff
That Toshiba you got, it's a refurb, no?

Hey Richard, check out this thread. I haven't ordered one yet but it sounds like a good deal for a handy camera. Cheap digital camera!
Just a few more things in the Exilim.. I have the S2 Model...Which has the following cool (to me) things:
2.0 mega pixel, 1600x1200 fine quality resolution, 1280 x 960, and 640x480. Also does AVI (movies).
Uses USB to transfer data and re-charges the battery when in its cradel..this I never replace batteries.
Has built-in flash, 6 different filters (like Black and White, Sepia, etc..).
Uses Smart Digital Media cards + has 12meg built in... I have a 128meg card I got for $60 bucks-- at the lowest resolution, I have 1200+ images I can store, and the highest, 166...
Quality Settings are set by two things: Resolution + Quality where::
Resolution is: 1600x1200, 1280x960, 640x480
Quality is: Fine, Normal, Economy
... I usually select 1280x960xNormal which gives me storage 566 images.
I paid $269 for mine...
I also recommend getting from Compusa/Bestbuy/Frys (or the local geek shop near you) a SD Media USB reader... So you can take the media out of the camera and transfer it elsewhere with the reader.. Why is this cool?? Say you take 500 pictures at some event... do you really want to email 500 pictures? Do you want to loan someone your digital camera and usb cradle? Neighter do I!!! But I would loan them the memory card and a $20 USB reader :-)
Anyway...good luck to you.
