I work at a pharmacy, and I can guarantee you this can also be related to brand/generic drugs. It's psychological.. people IT'S THE EXACT SAME DRUG!! Brand name does not work better than generic.

ill take the generic RR rofl...I heard this study on the radio, yeah now you can look for a win snob (the one who thinks they know everything there is about wine) and tell them all their info are irrelevant. I hate those people who think they know everything about wine, telling people this is the best etc.. when they're judging it by the price.

Totally different situations.
Wine is a taste preference and therefore subjective. Even a $1000 dollar bottle of wine can not guarantee that to all people who drink it would prefer it over a cheap wine.
It would be more comparable to ART WORK. If the artist is famous it could be interpreted as being true "ART" where as if a monkey slapped some paint down, it would be labeled as worthless. Tell them it was painted by the famous person, it's worth more.
Other items such as cars are based off of customer loyalty which is brought on by the companies reputation for reliabilty, performance and quality.
There are many different reasons things cost more than others. The actual finished product itself being better quality. And then there is the limited availability or even things that are handmade or have a better QC program can increase it's value or monetary value.
You get what you pay for applies to these types of items.
Essentially, things that are subjective...your money is spent on personal preference ie instant over Starbucks coffee. A POS kia compared to Porsche, you get what you pay for.

I'm an on-again, off-again wine knucklehead. The fact is, even at the Chuck range, there's good stuff. . . and then it works it's way up.
And yes, like cars, at every price band, you'll find wines that hit way above their weight. The only thing is, they all eventually get discovered (to the point where I can't afford them anymore
). What a bummer. I better open some wine.

gettin a bit ot. do you think rich people or people who spend a bunch on the "good" stuff are enjoying life more than those who don't, yet have similarly good quality items? ergo, should we all become brand snobs because it will make us happier?
