Default 18yr. old ready to start life as an adult... what next?

The year is 2004, the human race has been to the moon, the depths of the ocean, cloning is a reality, the internet is a way of life. Now i ask you, as someone in search of something real, how does a person stake claim in this world. I've got ideas on college, attending a community college at the moment, but ready to move on.

The world may, or may not be ready for me, i'm certainly not ready for the world, but ready for a change. I live in a small town (pop 3000) graduating class of 114. I want out, and i figured this would be a good global forum to ask you all, what is out there?

I've traveled a lot for an 18 yr old kid, much of europe and the carribean, as well as most of the east coast, and some of the west. I love world culture and if it were presented correctly i'd move away from here.

Share some insight, throw out ideas to a kid who doesn't know where to go.

Thanks in advance,
Mike

The only way to truly stake claim, and find something real in this life in my opinion is to find someone you love and hold on to her forever.

No one said it would be easy, but all the rest falls into place.

I'm listening...I'm 18, attending UCSD. I need to know what next, too. I figured it'd be out of place to suggest anything i don't know, but I'm listening to this thread too. can't ever have too much advice.
