19th kid?

Dear Mrs. Duggar:
I must say that I think it is both incredibly irresponsible and offensively selfish for you to continue having children, considering that you are now over 40 (43, to be precise). The probability that a child will be born with a serious birth defect, like Down syndrome, goes up dramatically with each passing year. (Ahem *SARAH PALIN*)
You say "I'm 43 almost 44 this September, I know that my mommy years are probably numbered and I don't know how many more children God will see fit to give me."
UGH. Your children come from your husband blowing his load in your vagina. Often. /story.
Would you stop having children only if "god" "gave you" a child that had a serious birth defect? Above maternal age 45, the probability of a child being born with down syndrome is about 1 in 19. You already had a 3-month premature birth; how much did your family pay out-of-pocket for the 4 months that the baby was in the hospital? How much did your insurance company pay? Do you see that the money your insurance paid for that could probably have helped hundreds if not thousands of younger, poorer mothers to have complication-free pregnancies?
Would you even see a birth defect as "a sign" that enough is enough? I'm not sure if you would. How selfish and cruel to the poor child who will suffer through life because you would not stop.
