2002 Interceptor - now with VTEC!
The current issue of Cycle World states that the 2002 Honda VFR800 Interceptor will have VTEC kicking in at 7000rpm and ABS as an optional extra for $1000. It was a great bike before these 2 huge additions which are both very worthwhile in my opinion.
Honda is definitely paying attention to the aftermarket. The stock exhaust on previous models obscured the beautifully engineered single sided swing arm - and could only be seen clearly with aftermarket high slip-ons, but no longer. The new high dual pipe system shows off the exposed rear wheel quite nicely.
Honda's new products look to be really sweet. Now if I could only justify a second fun vehicle... kinda tough to do especially since I sold a 1996 VFR750 to purchase the S2000...
OD.

Sat on it at the recent motoshow... was set on the new VFR but seeing it in person really made me think twice. It's become very porky in the latest generation, love the rear but the front is uglier than in pics. Not a big fan of ABS myself but that was BMW's system.
I'll give it a test ride next year but will probably go a DP route with KLR or possibly SuperMotard of some sort.

p.s. there's always room for a motorcycle.

The VTEC is there period. The ABS is the option.
This bike looks great too, honda's pics & info:

ps. the bike is relatively heavy, but i'm assuming this engine could jump up like a b%#% mo' when hitting vtec.

I doubt they'll put that much kick in the VTEC, come on, it's a bike fer cryin' out loud, they don't wanna kill half the buyers in the first year.
All I have to say is, see it in PERSON. Pictures are one thing, I loved it in the pics... but in the flesh, eh.

One other thing I don't like is they did away with the gear drive cams. I have a 95 and I LOVE the gear whine sound,....very Ferrari like.
Factory saddlebags are going to be an option on the new one though.

Life without a monthly vehicle payment just doesn't seem real.
