Ok so I was waiting for them to freshen the show up but its still a broken record and imho the first four hours this season have been BORING.
Lets see Tony is back from the dead, a sure signal of jumping the shark.
We have a president whose significant other is causing problems. Why does the president ALWAYS have to have a significant other subplot. Who cares? Can we try something different?
In the last couple seasons, I have been bothered by the fact that about 25 minutes of each show is a split screen cell phone call. "What do you like about the show?" "Gee I guess my favorite part is watching people talk to each other on the phone!"
We once again have another plot that has a person in the president's cabinet who is a traitor. Yawn.
And now we need to suffer through Garafalo.
Ugh. I was hoping they would take the show in a new direction, maybe set it in another country like a terrorist attack in Britain or Jack on a mission in the middle east, work in Isreal and Hamas (although I get the network would get killed for making one side or the other look bad) or SOMETHING!!!!!
Its like watching Gilligans Island. You know the episode where they have a plan to get rescued and Gilligan screws it up? Its just getting to the point where you could take an episode from last night, insert it into any previous season and noone would know the difference.
And every time they reference General Juma, I think of the nation of Zamunda from Coming to America.
So who is still into it?

I don't know how many seasons they have had, 5? 6? 7? But 2 of them I found to be very good. I think they were seasons 1 and 3.
The rest have been unwatchable but some poeple just love all of it. I don't get it.

i agree with you completely that 24 is a broken record. it is the same plot every season. i was saying that to myself last night.
however, i don't know what it is, but i can't stop watching the show. i still like it even though it's the same each year.

They found the lost pilot episode, if anyone is interested in the show's beginnings:

Was way into it in seasons 2-4. I just found it got too ridiculous when they brought Jack back from the dead to escape the CIA (or FBI or the Chinese, whoever it was). Then David Palmer's brother becomes president. Ok. I put the first episode on the other night and saw Tony Almeida, resurrected like Lazarus, laughed, and changed the channel.
Everything in Hollywood is either a rehash or a sequel. Not one single person has an original idea anymore. Trust me, I work here.
That aside, I'll still watch the show for the mindless action/violence. If you're looking for anything other than that, then you're watching the wrong show at this point.
