Default 3 Year Old Parking Ticket, Shall I Pay It?

I rented a car in the city I live some 3 years ago. Now I get this letter from a creditor demanding I pay the $76! Would you pay it? If not, what repercussions are there?

Heck no. They only send it to creditors to try to get a fraction of what they had. Since they can't obviously trace it back to you...

Thats the great thing about "bill me later" magazines

Maybe I got confused between a creditor and a collection agency.

They can indeed trace it back to you. I used to work at Enterprise and we got tickets in the mail all the time. We check the date and time of the ticket versus the rental record of the vehicle and find out who had it. If they don't cough up the $$ you just charge their credit card since it is in the system anyways.

Whatever company you rented from may have different procedures than we did. They may submit the tickets to a collection agency. That is how it eventauilly tracked you down.

As for authorizing the charge I beleive if you read the fine print of the rental contract you will see that you are responsible for any tickets you may incur while renting the vehicle.
