Since we all agree that in the parenthesis (3+9) = (12) So 48/2(12)
then it would be the same thing as saying 48/2*12 Right?
Type that in any calculator and see your answer...

If you follow the "standard" order of operations you get 288, if you consider the 2*12 to be the entire denominator then it's 2

48 / 2 * 12 = x

^^^Most people that this point want to see 48 / (2 * 12), but if you follow the OoO then the correct way to write it would be (48 / 2) * 12.

OoO states you would now just solve for x left to right so 48 / 2 = 24; 24 * 12 = 288

I would just like to say that on the NUMEROUS forums I've seen this thread started on, this is by far the most mature and calm discussion I've seen. It's throwing me off.
