i respect your research^, but i think you miss the point. money can alleviate stress when you have no money, but it has a diminishing return after a certain point.
i guess its different for each individual and their situation.
but 100k a year would be pretty sweet.

again, do u think a woman would care about the difference?
Prime talent should have no problem attracting a trust fund fund kid. There is nothing noble to latching yourself to a poor slob.
If she is a plain jane well then she and he will marry into their station in life. Meaning avg. Joe marries plain Jane who have comparable earning potential.
Like it or not we have a class system in the US (lower, middle ,upper). People normally marry within their own class. Seldom will a wage slave hook up with a sugar momma or sugar daddy.
To answer the original question, depends on where the money is being earned. In SoCal near the beach, 60 or 100 does not buy or change your life for squat. Maybe in cheaper parts of the country this may change your lifestyle.
for a single person, extremely marginal "perceptible" disposable income
just more toys (ipod, xbox, audio) more frequently...
the real value is obviously salary-based savings accumulating more quickly
the big hump is going from a "working-wage" where one is counting paychecks (ie 30k - can i afford to buy cable tv or not?) to a decent pay (ie 60k - dont have to think about whether or not to go out for a meal)
after that, its all incremental... *slightly* bigger house, *slightly* bigger tv, *slightly* higher quality wine... which all adds up fast
thats why people say ( and i firmly believe) that money != happiness. after the gap where one goes from paycheck-to-paycheck, to being able to easily afford basic necessities (shelter, clothing, food), then theres no real meaningful increase in quality of life

Depends on the woman, if a girl is prime talent why would she give a wage slave the time of day?

we aren't poor, but we sure aren't rich either.
my wife, whose parents are well off (est net worth >= $1M), is in her 4th year of med school. she'll be a radiologist, and she'll earn 6-8 times my current wage in about 6 years.
we married for love, and we've both often wished she wasn't committed to such a demanding education so we could enjoy more time together. it'll pay off financially in the end, but money isnt the most important thing to us.
money is only an issue if you feel you don't have enough.
i think the 'class system' is more a reflection of who people meet and what their values are than anything else.
