If its <100 the top is down and the AC is off. Its comfortable when you do 70 regardless of the temps.

We have A/C? I only use it when my wife rides with me or when it's raining. That's about it.

 

I don't have it on with 90F + Cali summer.
The reason is I hate the A/C on my EVO. It robs power and makes the clutch harder to engage.??? (do you have that too Scot?)

 

has it occurred to you that the times when you have the AC on is when the weather is really hot?? so maybe at WOT it's not the AC that makes your car feel slower, but it's the fact that the air that enters your engine is hotter which is known to reduce power. it's the same reason why our engines generally feel peppier at night time when the air is cool versus day time when the air is at least 20 degrees warmer.

 

It depends on the car obviously, a convertible like the s2000 it doesn't make sense to have the ac on all the time. Having said that. studies have been done, showing that using your ac can reduce gas mileage up to 20%. However, having your windows open, causing aerodynamic drag can reduce gas mileage up to 10%. So the 10% difference or 10 miles out of every 100. Just isn't enough for me personally to worry about it. So if I am in my beaters the ac is on. In the long run it might add up, but I'd rather be comfortable then sweaty when I get to work.

 

My Integra, A/C on all the time or not still gets 30 mpg gallon or not. Too bad it eats premium...

 

100 degrees maybe...not 90. Of course the humidity isn't so bad here.

 

I use my AC to defrost the windows... otherwise, 2/70 AC for me

 

I actually use the AC more in the winter. The car gets damn hot and when it's raining you can't have the windows down without geting a shower.
