A north Texas 911 operator is in trouble after making a joke during one of his emergency calls.

Authorities said Mike Forbess answered a call from a woman who claimed her two 12-year-old daughters were fighting.

She told him she needed help and that she feared for their safety.

"The 12-year-old is completely out of control," the woman said. "She's as big as I am, I can't control her."

"OK," Forbess said. "Do you want us to come over to shoot her?"

Forbess told the woman that the comment was a joke.

"This is really not very funny," she responded.

She told Forbess that she would call his supervisor.

Authorities said Forbess has received two letters of reprimand.

I think the operator was being just a little sarcastic....

 

"I meant with a TRANQUILIZER!"

 

the lady should be keeping her children under control, I probably would have laughed if I got a call like that.

 

ing bitch. What kind of ing mother calls 911 on their kid for no reason in the first place?!?!

I heard the tape of the call on the news this morning.

There was a long pause after... "Do you want us to come and shoot her?"

Caller... "Excuse Me?"

Forbess... "That was a joke."

and so on and so forth..

Well - it did diffuse the situation and totally turned her attention away from the 12 year olds but .. anyway

 

Yeah, right? Well I heard a story recently about a lady who called 911 from a Burger King drive-through. Apparently, the BK staff had failed to make her sandwich properly after several failed attempts. The woman was so angry she called 911... the very patient dispatcher apparently asked, "what do you expect me to do about this?" To which the caller allegedly responded, "I want you to send a cop out here to make sure I get my sandwich the way I want it."


I guess she wanted to hold them to the "Have it YOUR way" mantra.

i just saw it on news.... i acutally heard the recording... i found it kinda funny tho.. lol

 

I just happen to be a 911 dispatcher and we get calls like that all the time, from incompetent parents to unsatisfied customers, and the more trivial and distant a particular situation is from an actual "life or death emergency," the more curt and brutally honest many of us can become. However, I for one would never joke around with words like "shoot," although I often enjoy making idiot callers feel like idiots if their call and/or attitude is deserving.
