Default A380 Formation flight

I thought this was CGI at first, but it looks like Airbus got 4 planes airborne at the same time!

those things are huge... i wonder, are they going to be available for commercial flights with business class and stuff or is it going to be more of an upscale type of thing?

Somehow I find the whole concept of cramming over 400 people onto a plane scary. They're awfully big opportunities for disaster.

Flying is an obscene way to travel and this airplane will only make it worse. The hype is that they will bring back some symblance of civility to travel. The reality is that if these babies ever start to LOOSE money the airlines will crash and burn faster than ever. You'd better believe that the cost of keeping these in the air will be scrutinized tighter than any other aircraft in history.

Contrary opinions are welcome.

The production has been plagued by design and manufacturing flaws. The launch customer has canceled 90% of their firm orders, and other customers are leaving.

The program is over budget, over schedule, and under performing. I was surprised to see 4 of the aircraft flying at once due to the problems the program has sustained.

400 people on a plane? They've been doing that since the 747 came out! Okay, not all 747s have 400 seats but pretty darn close.

I think I did read somewhere that the A380 could fit like 530 people in a single-class configuration. Now that's a nightmare as far as checking-in/boarding/luggage is concerned.

There was a documentary about the A380 on Discovery a little while back, from beginning to end of it's building cycle, great show!
