This is an Actual Thread
At my place of employment we get an announcement (two, actually), every Monday morning. The announcement starts like this:
"This is a test of the emergency broadcast system. In the event of an actual emergency, instructions will be given over this system. . . ."
Presumably, in the event of a mere emergency, no such instructions will be forthcoming. Not until the emergency becomes an actual emergency will we learn, officially, what we're to do.
For the record, I plan to leave. Actually.

We have an extremely load alarm/broadcast system in our building. If a fire alarm/hazard/tornado/etc, goes off, every floor is alerted to the problem. It goes off until the situation is under control/resolved. It's really annoying, so I guess it's doing its job correctly.
