Default Acupuncture

Has anyone here tried acupuncture? If so, what for? Anyone try it for allergies? Any success?

I decided to try it, so I'm curious to see other people's experiences with it...

you live in Texas now, allergies will come and go, and if you think you will build immunity to them over time, well, it will take a few years for your body to adjust, but certainly not become entirely immune.

I say give it a shot, it can't hurt.

Not sure if it works or not but...how cool would it be to be an acupuncturist?!?! Think about it...you get to play with lifesized voodoo dolls all day!! Too cool.

accupuncture is based on a different philosophy compared to western medicine. traditional chinese medicine is more wholistic and deals with chi or an energy which everyone has. when you get sick, there's an imbalance of chi (it might be blocked or you might have too much in one area). accupuncture uses needles to harmonize the chi and restore. i know this sounds crazy but it's one of the oldest forms of medicine. btw, accupuncture can be used for almost any illness.

I've never actually tried it, but I have a friend who says he had really severe alergy when he was a kid. After getting several sessions of accupuncture, he says he's been alergy free ever since (its been about 15 years or so).

I also know of numerous people who've had it to reduce swelling after twisting their ankle.

Sondra, if you do try it let us know what happens.

Good luck!

I found an acupuncture school... $25 per session! That's almost as good as the massage school in Va Beach where I used to live, $20 for an hour!

I've treated several subcutaneous abscesses caused by these "practitioners." Neat things are carried on improperly cleaned needles used by unregulated "medical professionals".
Hepatitis, HIV, Staph aureus, Strep etc.
