I'll try and make this short...
I live in a college town, and even though I've purchased my house, most of my neighbors rent. I don't know one set in particular, but I know they are all in the same fraternity. We share a long driveway that forks in the end and has a separate parking slab for each of us. As of last night, there are 12 cars half of which are either parked IN my yard or on my parking slab. I am VERY understanding and tolerant, but as of this morning they are still there. I think they all went together on a trip and will be parked there for days...
Legally what all can I do? Call sheriff and get them towed? Press charges and sue for damages to my property(it rained yesterday and last night so its killed any and all grass and left mudholes all over). I hate the idea of causes tension between me and my neighbors, but who in their right mind would feel that it is OK to park on their neighbors grass/property and driveway without saying a word? Honestly only thing really holding me up right now is that I don't want the S to be target of any retribution.
Catch 22 here...
Thanks,
Chris

yeah i wouldn't want any negativity from neighbors not because of the S but also because they live right next to you and you would have to see them every day...maybe you can just go over to them when they are home and ask them not to park in your space.Or maybe charge them a monthly fee for the spaces you don't need.I believe the second of the 2 would be better for the both of you guys...pissing of neighbors is not a good idea in my opinion..

Yeah, I would definitely talk to them first in person. Wouldn't you get mad if you parked your car somewhere (maybe unknowingly in a bad spot) and it was towed without you getting notified first? It could just be an honest mistake on their part. Just tell them that you don't want cars on your lawn. Maybe invest in a small decorative fence or something to divide up the line.
well fury is a good fuel for getting things done...
I've been so upset that i've spent all morning calling the tax asseser and doing some research. Managed to find the Landlord's number and address. I'm going to be nice and try to talk to them at lunch. Then maybe call landlord and clue them in... and at that point if its still a problem I will tow them.
Believe me when I say that there is NO possible way they don't realize they shouldn't be parked where they are. There are actually a couple of them in front of my house, in my grass right outside my front door. Its a case of "only person that matters is myself", and they are just gonna do what they want regardless of the effect on anyone else.
I'm tempted to play it like I don't own the house...
"Can you guys not park in the grass here, my landlord has warned me that he would take damages to the yard out of my security deposit if its torn up..."
That way maybe they won't equate me with the stingy bad guy...

Yea, I DEFINITELY wouldnt want to let them know that you are the owner. But then again, if you do that, then you can't charge them to rent spaces. So if it looks like they NEED the spots, then try and charge them rent, and ask them politely not to park there if they aren't going to pay you. Otherwise, tow em. I'd say get a 24/7 DVR on your S, like that one guy who has one in his driveway. That way, if anything DOES happen, you have proof.
Tell them to fix your lawn. They have no right to ruin it and leave it be. Call the police so you have the incident recorded. Would probably be good to call them while the cars are still on your lawn also. But defintely be precautious

anyways, had a little chat with a few people I saw moving around over at "the camp" turns out they are having some pledge initiation thing and there are literally about 18 people staying at the house. I told them nicely while still making it clear I was NOT happy about the situation with the grass and yard. They obliged and seems like all will be well. If I have any more problems, I will be calling the Sheriff right off and getting them towed. period.
