Default Afraid to go fast?? (Kinda long)

It's actually very funny. My boyfriend first of all forgets about 6th gear, and I have to remind him about it. When he drives my car, he's scared I might say he's doing something wrong and drives real slow. Of course this bothers some times....

Anyways last night was funny. We were heading to the beach, and there was a Porsche that passed us and was now probably about 1/2 mile ahead on the bridge (yeah this is how slow he was going... ). Ok fine I'll give him the benefit of the doubt the porsche got out of the toll plaza before us.
Anyways, he was like "OOhh i wanna go look at the Porsche" (his favorite car). So i go "You know, you can catch up". He was like "Really?" I go "Yeah!" He goes "What gear do I drop to?" I go (we're at 45 MPH at this point) "3rd or 4th is fine" he drops gear.... TO 5th!! I go ahmm "Let's go one more..." he drops to 4th. He starts to step on the gas. I'm like "Keep going (5K), Keep going (5.5) Keep going (6K) Keep.." he changes gear. I go "Why'd you do that? You could have kept going." By this time we were basically behind the Porsche. He was like "I don't know I get scared going too high" I was like "Oh my lord."
This car has soo much more power and he's soo afraid to step on it.
Am I the only one with this problem? I've tried many times to have him step on it, but he gets scared. It's like he gets in the car and freaks out, of what I might think... I'm like "Gas pedal on right. GO!"

I just wanted to share since it's soo funny.

Maybe he was afraid he would damage your car? I think people tend to be more careful with other people's toys when it's someone they care about or don't want to get into trouble with. Of course, this is a generalization...

Has he ever seen you drive your car and step on it? I guess you will have to teach him a thing or two!

LOL, Yes he's seen me step on my car. One day I was like "Wanna see what the car can do?" and he was like "OK!?" I just took off.... let's just say he was holding on for dear life. I try to tell him to go for it, but he just doesn't. At least he is careful driving my car but sometimes i am like... GOOOOO!. I think ever since he got into his bike accident, he's a little more cautious of his surroundings. He's always afraid someone's going to hit him. I guess it's just nightmares?

Why wouldn't I let him drive the car? I trust him, and he defenitly does not "show" the car off like it's his. It's just not in him to do it. Plus I'd kick his butt!
