after 6 years on ebay i got my first negative. :(
Some dick bid on my basketball card (he bid way too much), then decided "i was out of town, i didn't bid".... the dumbshit bid on the exact same card (for way cheaper) and then paid for it, and was left positive feedback by that guy.....
I had left him negative feedback, so he retaliated.... I am pissed... 6 years and 360+ feedback and now it is 359!
Not only did he cost my feedback point, but by the time I got word he wasn't paying the card dropped by about $1k..... so he cost me about $800-$1000 and my first negative.
People suck!

Thats a shame. I've got 1 negative feedback because of an email problem a couple of years ago. Sometimes I'm almost nervous to leave non paying bidders negative feedback for fear of retaliation. At least now you can post a response to the negative feedback.

This might be a stupid question, but how does Ebay actually work? I've never tried it... Let's say I decide to sell something, so I register an account, and when the bidding is over, do you have a contract with the guy to pay you? (How does he pay you?) And are you responsible for mailing it to wherever they live? How does the payment process work? Thanks...
you only have about 80 charectors to reply, and a reply still doesn't offset the fact that i have a negative now...... Ebay says, through dispute mediation ($20 for this, $20 for that, etc....) they would possibly be able to remove the negative...

it was pretty well thought out.....
all registered uses have a feedback #. You start with (0). You obviously don't go buying a $2000 item via mail from a (0) feedback person....
as you buy or sell, people leave you feedback....you build a reference sheet so to speak..... I had (360), but now have (359). Each positive feedback is worth 1 point...each negative is worth -1 point..... there are escrow services for larger items, etc.......
i have never been burned on ebay, but i also don't bid on anyone's stuff who has negatives..... to see anyone's feedback, simply click on the number (359) and it will tell you how many positives, negatives, etc.....
hope that helped some.....it is pretty decent....especially since I have never burned anyone or been burned...other than this dick not paying me... i will get my fees back from ebay, but now I have a bruise.... and I AM PISSED!

edit - O ya...it is free to register and free to bid, but it does cost to sell.... and most people take "PAYPAL" so I won some goofy YugiYo cards for my kids last night and paid within 2 minutes of the auction ending via PAYPAL...cards should be here tomorrow.

i used to use ebay a lot, got about 200+ on my feedback, was into basketball memorabilia, vintage and inserts, etc, but now have lost interest and stopped that. i now have a heap of stuff that i dont care for and i spent a small fortune on it, i wish i could find someone stupid like i was and sell it to them, the problem is australia is kinda a small market to offload cards to....bah, i guess ill have to wait a few years and hope for a resurgence in trading cards.
