granted it doesn't have bluetooth like the 360
it's about the size of a deck of card and is also an mp3.
more importantly it has text-to-speech. instead of saying "turn left in 200 feet" it will say the name of the street: "turn left at charles drive."

the size and ability to do mp3's is good but how much flash memory does it have for the mp3's?
its voice prompts maybe good, i found the abrivated "turn right here now" prompt often confusing. i dont know how one would evaluate the voice prompts w/o taking a unit on a trip, maybe read several web based reviews. the voice prompts are a BIG easy to use and operate thingy.
The Nuvi 360 has a mini-USB port and plugs in as a USB Mass Storage Drive. It also has an SD card slot.
It has about .5 gig internal memory available and then you can expand the rest with an SD card. I have a 2 gig SD card in it right now and it works great.

read this and ordered a Nuvi 350 this morning. Taking it to Rhode Island this weekend. Not that you can really get lost for long there... but hopefully it's as good as I've read. Now, the only problem is when I visit Europe again. It seems that the Europe software is several hundred to buy.. don't know if I can justify that for 1 trip a year over there..
For a good forum go to GPS Passion. I downloaded a worldwide basemap, however this is only good for navigating on major highways, not within a city. But at least it is free!
I just ordered my gps, and don't have it to play with yet, but do I understand it correctly that it can run several/many different map software? I'll get one with it, right, but then I could find another one, like the free one mentioned on the previous post and use that as well?
That is correct. It comes with the entire City Navigator, North America v8 map, that takes up about 1.5 gig on the unit. Then you can add other maps, like basemaps or country maps. I think you can get individual European countries for like ~$180-$250 a pop, better off getting all of Europe! You can also turn maps on and off to save processing and battery life.
As long as you ordered a US version unit, it will come with everything you need 99% of the time.

Dude, if you can wait, my company is coming out with a pretty nice one that'll be priced pretty competitively and with the world's number 4 brand behind it.
so for these aftermarket navi's, you just gotta download software to update the maps? coz my sister has the oem honda navi in her MY06 civic, and it runs off a dvd thing and honda's sattellite... so updating it would mean buying a 200$ cd every two years or so.
