The military promotes based on potential, not as a reward. No matter what you do in this world, having vision and a working plan to accomplish that vision are keys to success.

Perhaps you could work on goal setting strategies. I will pay off in the long run.

I'm a Sgt in the Army and came off active duty in 2004. I am now in the reserves doing Intel as 97E. I reclassed from 31u/25u, Signal Support Systems Specialist.

As far as all the branches go the Army has the most career fields just pick one that you would like to do as a civilian. The Army also has the best enlistment incentives.

For example when I enlisted back in 2000 I got $50,000 for college and am currently using that for school. I get $1333 dollars a month and clear a little over $300 of that after school is paid for because I opted
for the "kicker".

I suggest you stay Army not only because of better enlistment benefits,
but you also get promoted faster as well which equals more $$$.

I also suggest you re-take the ASVAB and shoot for a 110 GT score and that will open up more opportunities as far as jobs go. The Army is offering really good enlistment bonuses for certain MOS's.

Try to get one that requires a security clearance because that equates to more $$
in the outside world. Also check this website CLICK and see what is out there.

Select a goal and use the Military as a tool to achieve it! That's what I'm doing.

I hope this helps you in your decision and keep in mind no matter what branch the chance is always there you could deploy.

You didn't state how long you were in the Army, how old you are and what you used to do.... why you got discharged...what type of discharge you got.

Something tells me there is a lot you are not telling...

Military is not for everyone... Without your age and prior experience it's hard to give you advice.

I am 20 years old, my discharge was due to me mother being sick back home, I was DEP and I had mandatory release dates to be back in school and to go home to see my mother for a couple weeks would set them all out of wack so I recieved a chapter 11 discharge, she had a heart attack. One key to be re-enlisting in the army would be the signing bonus, however I'd have to talk to a recruiter in regard to all of that... security clearance wouldnt be hard for me to achieve I have a clean record in every way, never an arrest never anything bad.

I was in the NAVY for 5 years and I was just honorably discharged in December. I was a Construction Mechanic 2nd class (E-5) and have been stationed in Gulfport Mississippi when state side. Near by is Kessler AFB in Biloxi Mississippi and I must say that the Air Force definitly has the advantage when it comes to the women! The bases are ALOT nicer, they are have better funding etc. When we were in Iraq in 2003, My battalion was living in tents while the Airforce had mobile trailer homes with air conditioning and running water. Other things they had is swiming pools, tennis courts and full MWR facilities! Yes this was in the middle of the sand box of Iraq! You know the saying.. Chose your rate.. chose your fate.
